Warehouse Design & Space Planning

Alliance Warehouse Solutions — Jessup, MD — Serving All 50 States

Call (240) 269-2216
Quick Answer

Alliance designs warehouse layouts and space plans nationwide — we measure your building, model your inventory, SKU mix, and forklift flow, and produce a CAD rack layout that maximizes storage density while keeping picking fast and safe. Call (240) 269-2216 to plan your space.

Warehouse Design & Space Planning in the U.S.

The right rack layout can add tens of thousands of pallet positions to the same four walls — or quietly waste a third of your cube. Alliance's space planning starts with your numbers: pallet dimensions, SKU velocity, inbound/outbound flow, lift-truck types, and turning radius. We balance selectivity against density — selective, double-deep, push-back, drive-in, pallet flow, or a mix — model aisle widths around your forklifts, and lay it all out in CAD so you can see the pallet count and flow before anything is ordered. The result is a layout engineered for how your operation actually moves product, designed and installed turnkey across the country.

Design & Space Planning — Common Questions

What is warehouse space planning?

Warehouse space planning is the process of designing how a building's cubic space is used — rack type and layout, aisle widths, pick faces, and flow — to store the most product while keeping operations efficient and safe. Alliance space-plans warehouses nationwide, modeling your real inventory and equipment before recommending a layout. Call (240) 269-2216 to get started.

How do you maximize storage density without slowing down picking?

We match the rack system to each part of your inventory: fast-moving SKUs go in selective or pallet-flow rack for speed, while slow, high-quantity SKUs go in drive-in or push-back for density. By zoning the warehouse instead of using one system everywhere, you gain pallet positions where density matters and keep selectivity where throughput matters. Alliance zones warehouses this way nationwide.

Do you provide CAD or AutoCAD warehouse layouts?

Yes. Alliance delivers scaled CAD layout drawings showing rack runs, aisle widths, dock and column locations, and the total pallet-position count for each option, so you can compare designs on paper before committing. Those layouts then feed directly into stamped permit drawings and installation.

Do you account for forklift type and aisle width?

Always — aisle width is one of the biggest levers in a layout. We design around your existing lift trucks (counterbalance, reach, turret/very-narrow-aisle) or, if you are open to it, show what a narrower-aisle truck would gain you in pallet positions. The aisles are sized to the truck's turning radius plus safe clearance. Alliance sizes layouts to your existing forklifts nationwide.

How much does warehouse design and space planning cost?

For most projects where Alliance supplies and installs the rack, the design and layout work is rolled into the project rather than billed separately. Standalone consulting engagements are quoted by scope. Call (240) 269-2216 and we will explain how it works for your project.

Do you visit our site before designing the layout?

Yes. An accurate layout depends on a real field measure — building dimensions, clear heights, column grid, dock positions, slab condition, and sprinkler heads. We come to your facility anywhere in the country, capture the as-built conditions, and design from those, not from assumptions. Alliance field-measures every project nationwide before designing.
